Donald Byrd, Rest In Power.

Today we got word Donald Toussaint L’Overture Byrd made his transition 
earlier this week. Donald Byrd was a legendary jazz trumpeter whose career
spanned from his time recording with other bands to stellar releases with 
Blue Note, Columbia, Savoy and Prestige. In addition, he’s mentored both
Herbie Hancock and The Blackbyrds and worked with Cal Tjader and Cannonball
Adderley among other noted musicians. Byrd’s discography has long been a
gold mine for hip-hop, being sampled by Black Moon, J Dilla, Pete Rock and
Large Professor to name a few. Salute.
